<strong>Yamaha</strong> News!New <strong>Yamaha</strong> <strong>F200</strong>lightweight outboard•<strong>Yamaha</strong> <strong>Motor</strong> announce a lightweight <strong>F200</strong> incorporatingmany new and innovative features in this class. <strong>Yamaha</strong> hascreated the new <strong>F200</strong> outboard engine that offers the power ofa 200, but in a package that is closer in size and weight to ourF150A, giving an exceptional power-to-weight ratio. Weighing227kg, approximately 50kg less than the previous <strong>F200</strong>, the latestincarnation is 18 percent lighter. Employing an in-line fourcylinderconfiguration, with Variable Camshaft Timing (VCT) andweight-saving technology throughout, the new engine produces200HP while being the lightest engine in its class. Two versionswill be available — the <strong>F200</strong>F, with a regular mechanical shift andthrottle, and the <strong>F200</strong>G, with an electronically-controlled,drive-by-wire shift and throttle.The <strong>F200</strong>F/G also benefit from recent technological advancesmade by <strong>Yamaha</strong>, such as anti-theft system, a newly-designedReliance SDS as recommended propeller, a tilt-limiter, and LCDcolour display (optional for the <strong>F200</strong>G only), one-touch start/stop(optional for the <strong>F200</strong>G only), and the ability to set variabletrolling-speed revs. These features place the <strong>F200</strong>F/G firmlyalongside <strong>Yamaha</strong>’s top-of-the-range V6 (4.2L) and V8 outboards.<strong>Yamaha</strong> Joystick och Trim Assist<strong>Yamaha</strong> <strong>Motor</strong> announce the launch of a new Joystick ControlSystem for their top-end outboard engines that will makedocking and slow-speed manoeuvring considerably easier forthe recreational boater. Developed in conjunction with Swedishengine manufacturer Volvo-Penta, who pioneered joystickcontrols for recreational boating with their IPS system forinboard engines, the Joystick Control System operates in a similarway for outboard engines. With the joystick function enabled, theengine revs adjust to a preset level. Sensors detect the movementof the joystick and the ECU adjusts the engine outputs andsteering direction independently of each other in order to movethe boat in any direction desired.The Joystick Control System system will work with twoorthree-engine installations of <strong>Yamaha</strong>’s highly-acclaimedV6 (4.2L) 225 to 300hp and V8 350hp outboards.Trim Assist is a system that automatically adjusts theangle of trim of the engines according to engine revs, ensuring asmooth and comfortable ride without the need to trim the enginesmanually, although it is possible to adjust the trim manuallyif required. This means that the boat is always running at itsoptimal trim settings for any speed.
