Academic AppointmentThis is a full-time, 12-month faculty position at the rank of Full Professor, or at the rank ofAssociate Professor with eligibility for tenure and promotion, in the Department ofCommunication Sciences and Disorders (CSD), College of Allied Health (CAH), The Universityof Oklahoma Health Sciences Center (OUHSC), Oklahoma City, OK. The individual filling thisposition will serve as Chair of the Department of CSD and will be responsible for performing allleadership and administrative duties associated with that appointment.II. Required QualificationsRequired qualifications include an earned Ph.D. in Speech-Language Pathology, Audiology,Speech Science, Hearing Science, or, in exceptional cases, another related field, and currentacademic rank of tenured Full or Associate Professor. Applicants must possess 1) a demonstratedrecord of successful university teaching, research, and administration; 2) ongoing nationally- orinternationally-recognized research and extramural funding productivity; and 3) outstandingleadership, management, and communication skills. Clinical credentials (CCC-SLP, CCC-A) arenot required but applicants must demonstrate a thorough understanding of clinical preparationprograms in speech-language pathology and in audiology.III. Preferred QualificationsApplicants who also possess experience with Ph.D. program development and who have servedas successful mentors for Ph.D. students and tenure-track faculty members will be highlycompetitive.IV. Areas of Responsibility1. The individual filling this position will function as the primary administrator of theDepartment of CSD and will:A. provide vision and leadership for achieving the department’s missions and strategicplans,B. oversee and facilitate the department’s academic and clinical programs,C. develop and manage the department’s budget and financial resources,D. develop, evaluate, and revise curricula,E. manage and develop human resources,F. maintain accreditation of the department’s professional preparation programs, andG. foster collaborative research relationships within the department, the college, theuniversity, and with peer institutions.10/09/20101

The individual filling this position will engage in research and scholarly activitiescommensurate with Full Professor academic rank and will:A. maintain an active research program in his/her area of interest,B. secure extramural funding in the forms of research and training grants, contracts, andother awards, andC. provide research mentorship for tenure-track faculty and for Ph.D. and other studentsengaged in research.3. The individual filling this position will teach coursework in his/her area of expertise.4. The individual filling this position will participate in faculty governance via service ondepartmental, college, and university committees; and will be active in national andinternational professional service activities commensurate with academic rank.V. General InformationThe Department of CSD is one of five academic departments within the College of Allied Healthat the OUHSC. It is staffed by 14 full-time and 9 part-time faculty members and offers fiveacademic degree programs in speech-language pathology and in audiology: the pre-professionalundergraduate degree (B.S. in CSD), two professional preparation degrees (M.A. in SLP, Au.D.),and two research degrees (M.S. in SLP, Ph.D. in either SLP or in Audiology). Within thecollege’s Allied Health Clinics, the John W. Keys Speech and Hearing Center is administered bythe Department of CSD and serves as an important research and clinical training site for studentsin the department’s academic programs. The department’s professional preparation programs inspeech-language pathology and in audiology are nationally accredited by the Council onAcademic Accreditation in Audiology and in Speech-Language Pathology. The department islocated within the recently completed Allied Health Building (AHB) on the OUHSC campus.Research laboratories, faculty offices, clinical facilities, and classrooms of all sizes within theAHB have been fitted with the latest technologies for research, academic teaching, and clinicalinstruction.
