Q3 2009 Timberland Factory DisclosureThis list includes active factories as of September 30 2009. Although our supply chain sources may change from time to time, the list represents our best attempt todisclose all of Timberland’s active factories as of that date. We believe, along with others in our industry, that factory disclosure and collaboration can create commonstandards and shared solutions – helping to advance global human rights in all of our factories.The factories on this list include Footwear (FTWR) manufacturers, our footwear leather suppliers (TAN) and global contract non-leather suppliers (SUPP); our TimberlandApparel (APP) manufacturers and those producing for SmartWool (SW), Howies (HOW), Ipath (IPATH) and GoLite (GL); as well as those factories that produce for ourDistributors (DIS) and most Licensees (LIC). This Q2 2009 list represents the first time we are disclosing the names and locations of factories used by GoLite and forseven of our other Licensees (LIC). Please note that there are five licensees for which we are not contractually able to disclose their factories at this time.The factory list includes the name, address and business unit for each location. Locations whose designations are marked with a star (*) are those factories that havereceived Partner of Excellence status in our assessment process. Partners of Excellence are suppliers that score Partner level for two consecutive years in our assessmentprocess. Achieving Partner level requires more than compliance; it requires management systems, worker involvement, stakeholder engagement, and continuousimprovement. Maintaining Partner status is evidence of a supplier's dedicated commitment and sustained success in providing superior workplace conditions. We areconfident that factories who are Partners of Excellence have effective management systems and a strong commitment to actively addressing social and environmentalconcerns. As such, these factories receive Code of Conduct assessments every other year. As an ongoing assurance, Partners of Excellence agree to allow Timberlandassessors to visit between assessments (announced or unannounced) and/or provide updated information as requested.
