scanner. And I took off and headed back out there.
I took me about 40 minutes to relocate the --
the major debris field, which had drifted significantly
to the southwest. And I was going to use that to find
the preponderance of bodies, which we did. And we
threw them lights to mark the areas, you know, where
all the bodies. We marked each body with them lights.
And it took about two hours of coaxing the
Coast Guard to start retrieving the bodies. And they
were major -- their orientation seemed to be solely
around the fire. But the problem was that the bodies
would drift and -- and fan out over time, 'cause they
went to the southwest.
MR. WIEMEYER: Were t%e oxer boats in --
on-scene at the time?
CAPT. BAUR: No. The -- the only other
aircraft I seen with me was the -- the 130. Then after
I'd come back out, the second -- you know, the second
part of that sortie, the Coast Guard Dauphin from
Brooklyn had shown up. And I diwied the air space up
between myself and him. Went, you know, air-to-air
tact end, which means we get a little digital readout
of our distance from each other, so we didn't fly into
each other.
And the 130 stayed above a certain altitude.
