THE CAREERS.Army OfficerTHE PREREQUISITES. THE CHALLENGES. THE REWARDS.ROYAL MILITARY COLLEGE (RMC) DUNTROON. You must be at least 17 years of ageRMC DUNTROON. You’ll spend 18 months undertaking world-classRMC DUNTROON AND ADFA. All RMC and ADFA graduates will come out withwith passes in Year 12 English and three other subjects. You can alsobe a tertiary student or a graduate from a tertiary institution.AUSTRALIAN DEFENCE FORCE ACADEMY (ADFA). You must be at least 17 yearsof age upon entry and have completed Year 12 with results that qualifyyou for admission to the University of NSW.leadership and military skills training graduating as a GSO.ADFA. You’ll study for a degree in Engineering, Arts, Science, Businessor IT at the Australian Defence Force Academy (part of the University ofNSW) while training in leadership and military skills. You’ll then completeyour officer training with 12 months at RMC Duntroon.an Associate Diploma in Personnel Administration, while ADFAgraduates also receive a degree from the University of New SouthWales in their chosen field. You’ll gain leadership and managementskills, with an impressive starting salary from $52,000p.a.,including free healthcare and superannuation.A CAREERIN THE ARMY.Army OfficerGraduate entryArmy OfficerUndergraduate entryYou must have a professional or technical qualification in any one of a widerange of disciplines such as IT, Science, Medicine, Law or Engineering.There is also a Graduate Medical Scheme for those who hold anappropriate degree qualification. It allows you to be sponsored to qualifyas a medical practitioner then serve as a Medical Officer in the Army.Sponsored Undergraduate. You must be at least 17 years of age and currentlystudying for a tertiary qualification at a recognised Australian University.Health, Engineering and Law students need to have completed one yearof a three or four year degree or two years of a five or six year degree.Officer Tertiary Recruitment Scheme (OTRS). Whilst the same age requirementsapply, students studying other degrees only need to have completedone semester to qualify for OTRS.You’ll begin by completing your Specialist Service Officer FirstAppointment Course (SSO FAC), which prepares you for your specialistrole within the Army. This is a six-week course run at Royal MilitaryCollege Duntroon and is completed in two blocks - two weeks, then four.Alternatively, you can pursue a role in the Army that’s unrelated to yourcurrent degree by completing an 18-month course at RMC Duntroon.sponsored undergraduate & otrs. You get to complete your undergraduatedegree at the university of your choice, during which you’ll undertakeperiodical military training. After graduation you’ll commence thesix-week SSO First Appointment Course at RMC Duntroon to prepareyou for your specialist role within the Army. OTRS will undergo a12-month course after university graduation and will graduate as aGeneral Service Officer (GSO).With a generous salary package ranging from $55,200p.a. to$75,100p.a. (depending on specialisation and qualifications), includingfree healthcare and superannuation, you’ll also have the ability topractise your profession in a unique environment and develop theleadership and management skills only the Army can offer.Sponsored Undergraduate & OTRS. You’ll have access toa very rewarding career path with a salary package after your initialemployment training that starts at $48,500p.a. and includes freehealthcare and superannuation.You’re not just well paid (with a salary starting at $46,600p.a.)Army General EntryIf you’re at least 17 years of age with passes in Year 9 English andMaths you can choose from a wide variety of Army jobs ranging fromCombat Specific to Administration and Logistics.You’ll do 80 days of basic training at the Army Recruit Training Centreat Kapooka, NSW, before initial employment training at the corpstraining centres.and looked after with healthcare, job security and superannuation.You’re also part of an organisation that’s built on mateship. So aswell as self discipline, self confidence and a good salary, you’ll comeout with some great new mates.OFFICER. As a GSO you’ll undertake your GSO FAC in five modules.Army ReserveOFFICER. You’ll need to be at least 17 years of age with passes in Year 12English and three other subjects, a tertiary student or a graduate froma tertiary institution.SOLDIER. You must be at least 17 years of age with passes in Year 9English and Maths.The first module is held at the Army Recruit Training Centre at Kapookaand you’ll complete your training at RMC Duntroon. If you enter theArmy Reserve as a Specialist Service Officer (SSO) you will complete atwo week SSO FAC at RMC Duntroon to prepare for your specialist role.SOLDIER. You’ll receive 28 days of basic training at the ARTC at Kapooka,NSW, then one night a week, one weekend a month and two weeks ayear, during which you’ll receive additional training in your chosen job.OFFICER. You’ll get all the training in leadership and communication skillsthe Army has to offer, as well as self discipline, fitness and a paypacket that’s tax-free.SOLDIER. You’ll be trained in survival skills, face physical challengesand have unique experiences as well as enjoying pay that’scompletely tax-free.
