We <strong>of</strong>fer a wide array <strong>of</strong> interestingand innov<strong>at</strong>ive degree programmeswhich open doors to various careers in agriculture,engineering and science.The College <strong>of</strong> Agriculture, Engineering andScience <strong>of</strong>fers programmes <strong>at</strong> the Durbanand Pietermaritzburg centres. Science andAgriculture is based on the Pietermaritzburgand Westville campuses. In particular, Agricultureis <strong>of</strong>fered only on the Pietermaritzburgcampus and Geology is only on the Westvillecampus. Engineering students have theoption <strong>of</strong> completing their first year <strong>of</strong> studyon either the Pietermaritzburg or HowardCollege campus (other than Chemical Engineeringwhich is <strong>of</strong>fered <strong>at</strong> Howard Collegeonly). All other years <strong>of</strong> study are undertaken<strong>at</strong> Howard College, except for the third andfinal year in Agricultural Engineering, which is<strong>of</strong>fered only in Pietermaritzburg.EngineeringEngineering <strong>at</strong> <strong>UKZN</strong> <strong>of</strong>fers fully accreditedpr<strong>of</strong>essional degrees in the fields <strong>of</strong>Engineering and Land Surveying. Theseare structured degree programmes in theapplied sciences, which stretch over fouryears <strong>of</strong> full-time study.The College <strong>of</strong>fers degree programmes whichare relevant to industry, and are intern<strong>at</strong>ionallyrecognised and accredited by the EngineeringCouncil <strong>of</strong> South Africa. Qualified andskilled engineers are in high demand and ourgradu<strong>at</strong>es readily advance into top positionswith prominent companies world-wide.Emphasis is placed on training in the fundamentalprinciples which equip engineers,construction managers, land surveyorsand quantity surveyors with the necessaryskills to deal competently with the manifoldproblems they will meet in their pr<strong>of</strong>essions.Gradu<strong>at</strong>es readily secure jobs with topn<strong>at</strong>ional and intern<strong>at</strong>ional companies.18
