light, thus ensuring that the lightingconforms with the data set out in theCIBSE lighting guide for hospitals. Asstandard the light modules use highfrequency, quick start ballasts which canbe dimmed locally for use as the nightlight.Adjustable Arm LightingMEDISYS integra also has theability to provide bedheadreading/observation or examinationlighting via one or more ‘anglepoise’-type lamps, which are fitted to the front of the trunkingby a special bedlight bracket. We can supply theselamps from a variety of manufacturers or alternativelythey can easily be site-fitted by the installing contractor. All assembly fixings are hidden from view, ensuring aneasy to clean and aesthetically pleasing finish.EMC CertificationProtecting electronic components from ElectromagneticInterference and Radio Frequency Interference is ofparamount importance, especially within a healthcareenvironment. MEDISYS integra has been designedspecifically to ensure that each chamber, and in turneach individual compartment, controls both the emissionand reception of Electromagnetic and Radio FrequencyInterference.By specifying MEDISYS integra you can be satisfiedthat the EMC elements of the Medical Devices Directivehave been complied with, and have been tested for byBSI with all of the nurse call system in operation. All metallic sections have an extruded earthingprovision, therefore the system components can simplybe earthed in accordance with the latest IEE WiringRegulations (BS7671). This has been designed andtested to ensure that all discharged static is dissipatedaway without causing any effect to sensitive nurse callor other ancillary components within the trunking and itsenvironment. This has specificimportance when considering the buildupof static within a patient or memberof the nursing staff, which could easilybe discharged through the trunkingwhen they come into direct contact.A ground equalisation socket isavailable so that items whereelectrostatic discharge may occur (suchas bed frames) can be attached withminimal fuss.Engraved Text and LegendsDue to the specific nature of individual accessory lids inhospital applications, it is essential that legends andusage instructions are clearly evident to the user. Weadopt a policy of engraving all text and legends on oursystems thus ensuring a greater life span for thecomponent and making it easy for the user to identifythe relevant service.Module ConstructionMEDISYS integra is factory assembled with alloutlets pre-configured. The module can then be fitted onsite as a second or third fix item and, if required, we canpre-wire and pre-pipe prior to despatch, all with testcertification. The integral lighting systems are alwayspre-wired.This method of production reduces costs by benefitingfrom lower labour rates for off-site assembly, andspeeds up the general site installation time whilsthelping to eliminate the risk of on-site damage totrunking and abuse by other trades during theconstruction phases.Medical Equipment RailWhile some systems have an integral Medical EquipmentRail, our review of this concept has concluded it is an illconceivedfailure. Its inclusion invariably obstructs othertrunking-mounted outlets and the forces exerted on therail can cause the extrusions to buckle.Issue: A May 2004 Page 5 of 16Phone: +44 (0) 1494 528811Fax: +44 (0) 1494 531188E-mail: sales@cableflow.comWeb: www.cableflow.com

Instead we manufacture a separate Medical-Rail to EN12218 which is independently wall mounted (separatedatasheet available)Vertical RisersWe recognise the need to keep the visual effect of thetrunking to a minimum and have developed a slimtrunking section to tee into the system for the supply ofall services. The overall size of this riser is 180 x 45mm but can bedoubled up if a larger volume of services are to beaccommodated.InstallationEach module is secured directly to the wall surface usingsuitable fixings (refer to installation instructions). Theuse of proprietary mounting plates is not recommendedwith such a system. All wall deviations should be filledWe have recognised the need of some clients to procurea total package from a specialist manufacturer. Our experienced Contracts Department specialises in theinstallation of our trunking systems, a major factor insatisfying this requirement. Our in-house installation technicians are trained to thehighest standards, to achieve the best possible resultwhen our products and their services are co-ordinated.By equipping them with the latest machinery and tools, they are able to complete installations quickly andefficiently and our expert product knowledge assists inensuring a successful conclusion to any contract.Further information about this service can be obtainedby contacting our Sales Team who will be pleased toprovide you with a costing on your specific applicationfor installation or machine hire.using a suitable caulk or mastic.Issue: A May 2004 Page 6 of 16Phone: +44 (0) 1494 528811Fax: +44 (0) 1494 531188E-mail: sales@cableflow.comWeb: www.cableflow.com
