RECREATION FOR ALL AGES<br />
2012
PLAYGROUND PROGRAMS<br />
Seven Playground Programs, with free lunches, are available to all <strong>Lakewood</strong> children ages 6 to 15 Mondays<br />
through Fridays July 2 through August 10, from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm; ALL PARKS CLOSED JULY<br />
4th. No Fees. Parents must register at any <strong>of</strong> the following playgrounds: Clifton Avenue School, Hearthstone,<br />
Larry D’Zio Park, Clarke School, Pine Park, Reverend Clayton Park and Spruce Street School.<br />
Each site is staffed with experienced adult supervisors who have designed a variety <strong>of</strong> enjoyable activities<br />
for your child. On days <strong>of</strong> inclement weather the playgrounds will be closed, listen to WOBM for closing<br />
information. Although supervision is provided, your child is free to leave the playground at any time.<br />
MUSIC CAMP – INSTRUCTIONAL<br />

School from June 18 to July 6. Available for students in grades 4 to 12. Features group rehearsals and<br />
sectionals for all wind, string, percussion instruments and beginners’ lessons. An excellent opportunity to<br />
start a new instrument. Music videos and free lunches also included. Fee: Residents $5 fee; non-residents<br />

YOUTH CHORUS<br />
<strong>Lakewood</strong> Recreation Youth Chorus. Grades 1 through 6, July 2-July 20 . Available to all <strong>Lakewood</strong> Youth.<br />
Experienced and beginners welcome. Registration @ Clarke School July 2. Free program and lunch.<br />
SUMMER FUN CAMP<br />
Excellent <strong>summer</strong> activity for <strong>Lakewood</strong> children only, ages 3 (by June 1) to 5 yrs. – 9:00 am to 12:00 noon – Mondays<br />
thru Fridays – July 2-July 20 Closed 4th – School #5 playground. Fee $10 per child. Parents must register<br />

SUMMER YOUTH THEATRE WORKSHOP<br />
A high quality three week Summer Youth Theatre for students entering grades 5 to 12, with Dramatic Arts Director,<br />
Angela Corenblith – Mondays thru Fridays – July 5 to July 22 – 9:00 am to 1:00 pm at <strong>Lakewood</strong> High School<br />
– No fee. Register at <strong>Lakewood</strong> High School Cafeteria July 5.<br />
CATTUS ISLAND PONTOON BOAT TOUR<br />
Cattus Island Pontoon Boat Tours <strong>of</strong> lovely Barnegat Bay, the Bird Sanctuary and much more. Free bus to<br />
and from Cattus Island boat dock and Cattus Island Tour. Must register prior to tour at the Dept. <strong>of</strong> Public<br />

PINE PARK<br />
All <strong>Lakewood</strong> residents, organizations and groups are encouraged to utilize the numerous outdoor facili-<br />

and tennis courts, playgrounds, nature trails and more. Ideal for family picnics, outings parties and reunions,<br />
biking, jogging, tennis, walking, birdwatching and nature lovers. Take advantage <strong>of</strong> the facilities<br />
you pay for. For an application to reserve a facility at Pine Park or any other picnic area for your function<br />

TENNIS COURTS – OPEN PLAY<br />
The Pine Park Tennis Courts are available for your pleasure when not utilized by the Recreation Program<br />
for instruction. ID cards not required and <strong>Lakewood</strong> residents have preference over non-residents. Refreshments<br />
prohibited on courts. Tennis shoes or sneakers must be worn. Four new tennis courts under<br />
lights for your <strong>recreation</strong>al convenience.<br />

The Wilbur Thompson Memorial Men’s Slow-Pitch League with thirty-four teams in the A, B, C and D<br />

GOLF INSTRUCTION 8 to 17 years old<br />
Golf lessons at Eagle Ridge Golf Course – Sponsored by First “T” <strong>of</strong> Ocean/ Monmouth County. Classes will be<br />
Thursdays at Eagle Ridge 4:30 - 5:30. They will begin July 5th - August 18th. Fee is $60. Scholarships will be<br />

PLAY AREAS FOR CHILDREN<br />
The <strong>Lakewood</strong> <strong>Township</strong> Committee has installed and maintains exceptional, safe play areas throughout the <strong>Township</strong><br />
for our children including a variety <strong>of</strong> swings, various slides, climbing apparatus and tubes, and much more.<br />
Take advantage <strong>of</strong> these enjoyable play areas throughout the year: Clifton Avenue School, No. 5 School, Larry<br />
D’Zio Park, Frank Bart<strong>of</strong>f Sports Complex, Sunset Road, Canterbury Road, Hearthstone, Oak Street School, Pine<br />
Park, Rev. Clayton Park, Spruce Street School. In addition the <strong>Township</strong> has installed a state <strong>of</strong> the art handicapped<br />
accessible playground at the Oak Street School, and The Ella G. Clarke School.<br />
BASIC SKILLS SUMMER CAMP<br />
Summer Basic Skills Camp is a new program that will be <strong>of</strong>fered at the <strong>Lakewood</strong> Community Center to help school<br />
aged children improve and maintain the skills that they learned during the regular school year. The camp is designed<br />
to help students, grades 1st through 6th, enhance their reading, writing, and math skills.<br />
Summer Basic Skills Camp classes will be held at the <strong>Lakewood</strong> Community Center, the camp will meet Monday<br />
through Friday from 9:00 am until 1:00 pm. The program will start on July 5, 2012 and end on August 3, 2012. The<br />
Educational Camp will run approximately for 4 weeks. Lunch will be provided for all children who are enrolled in<br />
