This increase still leaves us underthe amount of tuition charges of many other schools in the district.Plans are being worked out for a 50th anniversary drivefor increased funds to pay off this debt and build the new gymnasium.Degrees ConferredAccording to the recommendation of the faculty, degreeswere conferred on members of the graduating class as follows:Bachelor of Arts 67; Bachelor of Science, 18; Bachelor of Sciencein Ed., 9; Bachelor of Science in C, 1; Bachelor of Science in E,1; Bachelor of Music, 3; Bachelor of Oratory, 3; Certificate inMusic, 2.Miss Mary Stormont, of Princeton, Indiana, congregationhad the rather unique distinction of winning the degrees ofBachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Music, and Bachelor of Oratory.The honorary degree of Doctor of Divinity was conferredon Rev. Pollock J. McDonald, of Chicago, and Rev. Robert J.Mclsaac, of Selma, Alabama.President M. M. Pearce and T. M. Slater were appointedto represent the Board, before the Board of Corporators, beforeSynod, and together with R. A. Blair, before the coordinatingcommittee.To aid in the support of the college this year, Synod is askedfor an appropriation of $16,000 not to exceed $2,000 of whichmay be spent for paying the traveling expenses of Covenanterstudents who come from a distance.The following nominees were certified to the Board of Corporators,from which to choose a successor to Eugene S. Hoopesas a member of the Board of Trustees, representing the businessmen of Beaver Valley: Eugene S. Hoopes, to succeed himself;W. W. Synod Potts, took Presbyterian, recess until Banker; 7:30 E. p.
