Enhanced Maternal and Child HealthThis is an intensive outreach support for families experiencing difficulties incaring for their children. ImmunisationImmunisation sessions are held weekdays, evenings and weekends. Thereis no requirement to book for the open sessions. Immunisation timetablesare available on the Darebin Website at www.darebin.vic.gov.au.The council also offers “appointment only” immunisations for first timeparents and for 4 year old children. To make a booking at one of theseclinics please phone 8470 8562.For primary school enrolment, the Australian Childhood ImmunisationHistory Statement should be provided. For the statement to be valid thechild must have received their 4 year old immunisations. Council onlyissues certificates for children from overseas or who are catching up withvaccines. If you are unsure or you have not received your statement pleasecontact us on 8470 8562.Darebin has an immunisation nurse on call for immunisation related medicalenquiries. KindergartensThe State Government provides funding for children to attend Kindergartenin the year prior to their commencement at primary school. Children attendkindergarten for 10 hours per week. The kindergarten teacher will plan aprogram for the children based around the children’s interests anddevelopmental needs. Children will develop their skills through play in thefollowing areas: language and listening, physical and creative skills, conceptdevelopment and confidence and independence.Some centres also offer a 3 year old program.Pre-School Central EnrolmentAll applications for enrolment at a kindergarten in Darebin must be madethrough the Pre-school Central Enrolment Office.
