The Heads of Stateand Government of the European Union agreed to coin the Euro as the single currencyat the Madrid Summit held at the building in Campo de las Naciones. This venue hashosted summits for NATO, the UN, the European Union, Latin America and theCaribbean; the meeting in Spain of the International Monetary Fund and dozens ofpolitical, economic and social events.
