Boston School painter Abbott Fuller Graves was born inWeymouth, Massachusetts, and began his schooling at theMassachusetts Institute of Technology. In 1884 he traveled toParis and Italy, where he studied Impressionism with fellowBoston artist Edmund Tarbell. Graves returned to Boston toteach art with Childe Hassam at the Cowles Art School, howeverhe continued to travel back and forth to Paris, where he studiedat the Academie Julian. He is best known for his figuralcompositions set in bright and sunny landscapes.
