Thereare 4 types of FSC claims that our products can carry:FSC 100% – products where 100% of the fibre comes from an FSC-certified forestFSC Mix – products that are manufactured with a mixture of FSC-certified material withrecycled fibre, and/or controlled fibreFSC Recycled – products where 100% of the fibre is recycled, and a minimum of85% is post-consumer recycled fibreControlled Wood – is wood or wood fibre that does not come from any of thefollowing controversial sources:1. Unfinished composite panel productsmust first comply with the stringent California Air Resources Board (CARB) formaldehydeemissions regulation before being considered for other ECC criteria. Qualified plantsmust then meet at least three of the following requirements.Carbon Footprint – The plant shall demonstrate that the panel’s carbon store offsets itscradle-to-gate carbon footprint as determined in kg-CO2 equivalents of greenhouse gas(GHG) emissions. Each plant shall use the CPA Carbon Calculator to determine if a panelperforms as a carbon sink resulting in overall net carbon storage.Local and Renewable Resource – At least 85% of total annual wood fiber used shall besourced within 250 miles (402 km) of the manufacturing plant.Recycled/Recovered – Use a minimum of 75% recycled or recovered fiber; OR at least50% recycled or recovered fiber AND a minimum of 5% post-consumer fiber. Percentagesshall be calculated on a weight basis as measured in bone dry tons (bdt).Sustainability – The plant shall document that greater than 97% fiber furnish broughton-site to manufacture panels is either converted into panels or other non-waste products.Wood Sourcing – The plant shall hold a valid assessment and certificate from a certifyingagency recognized by CPA such as the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC—Controlled WoodStandard or Chain of Custody Standard) or the Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI—FiberSourcing Standard).Phone 1 866 265 0624
