SCHOL<strong>AR</strong>SHIPS<br />

The Bob Ware Memorial Scholarship was established<br />

in 1975 to award scholarships to <strong>Alamo</strong> <strong>Heights</strong> seniors<br />

whose achievements are above expectations<br />

and are involved in extra-curricular activities at AHHS.<br />

<strong>2011</strong> Recipient: Clay Boggess<br />

The Oma E. Vordenbaum Scholarship was established<br />

in 1977 for graduating seniors enrolled in <strong>Alamo</strong> <strong>Heights</strong><br />

High School seeking higher education. The recipients<br />

have many of the qualities Mrs. Vordenbaum exemplifi<br />

ed herself and valued in others, including intellectual<br />

curiosity and a love of learning, perseverance and<br />

seriousness of purpose, an honest and direct approach,<br />

sincerity, trustworthiness, unselfi shness, neatness<br />

in work and appearance, and respect for others.<br />

<strong>2011</strong> Recipients: Cecilia Becerra and Joclyn Bosquez<br />

The W. W. and Anna May Campbell Scholarship<br />

was established in 1985 to provide scholarships for<br />

graduates of <strong>Alamo</strong> <strong>Heights</strong> High School who are attending<br />

state or other publicly supported schools<br />

and who are sophomores or above in class standing.<br />

Recipients of the Campbell Scholarships are selected<br />

based on scholastic ability and fi nancial need.<br />

<strong>2011</strong> Recipients: Dakota Bowen, Liliana Escamilla,<br />

Austin Gay, Michelle Gonzaba, Hillary Hendry, Kathleen<br />

Johnson, Gage Liesman, and Audrey Pfeil<br />

The Shirley Fitch English Memorial Scholarship<br />

was established in 1985 to award an annual scholarship<br />

for a graduating senior who has demonstrated<br />

academic eff ort, improvement, perseverance<br />

and has demonstrated school spirit<br />

through involvement in extracurricular activities.<br />

<strong>2011</strong> Recipient: Audrey Stipe<br />

The Jon McWilliams Memorial Award is presented<br />

to a student-athlete who, most importantly, is a decent,<br />

honest young person, and a worthy citizen<br />

of the school and larger community. The recipient<br />

is a good student who has shown determination,<br />

and who, through spirit and dedication, has worked<br />

to achieve his or her personal best in competitive<br />

athletics representing <strong>Alamo</strong> <strong>Heights</strong> High School.<br />

<strong>2011</strong> Recipient: Carter Thurmond<br />

The McPherson Family Memorial Scholarship Award<br />

was established for a graduating senior female athlete<br />

of <strong>Alamo</strong> <strong>Heights</strong> High School. Selection is made<br />

by the Coaching Staff and the Athletic Director of the<br />

High School. Qualities to be used as a guide in making<br />

the selection include team spirit, honesty, self-sacrifi ce,<br />

an unselfi sh attitude, dedication to the team and the<br />

sport, fairness, courtesy, perseverance, self-determination,<br />

good attendance in workouts and academic performance.<br />
