Robert A. Dubick
Memorial Scholarship – giving to
the next generation
In 2002, the Robert A. Dubick Memorial Scholarship for Ethical Leadership
in Education was created to aid graduate students who possess high ethical
leadership qualities. It was established to honor Dr. Dubick’s personal and
professional commitment to ethical and principled educational leadership.
Dubick was a longtime member of the UA family and, in 1993, was named an associate
professor in the Department of Educational Foundations and Leadership. “He had a
respect and passion for his students’ intellectual growth and leadership successes,” says
his widow, Constance Dubick. “He was a true gentleman and lived his entire life with
the highest ethical standards.”

“I consider it a great honor to be one of the
recipients of the Robert A. Dubick Memorial
Scholarship,” says Rable. “I appreciate all
those involved in the process, including the
faculty members who judged the submissions
and Mrs. Dubick, who has continued to
support the scholarship in the memory of her
late husband. The scholarship will certainly
help me continue my graduate education.
I hope to further explore the ethical dilemma
that I discussed in my paper.”
Serving on the COE committee that selected
the winners were Megan Moore Gardner,

The committee considered several factors,
including the overall significance of topic,
critical thinking exhibited and timeliness.
“The competition this year was outstanding,”
says Mudrey-Camino. “There were 16
submissions from students in all departments
of the College of Education. The committee
members commented on the excellent
submissions and were very pleased to
deliberate over such exceptional work. We
would like to thank Mrs. Dubick for this
continued support to aid our students to
continue their graduate pursuits.” n
COE Alumni Board
The COE is strong and proud with 28,768 living alumni.
To help give our alumni a voice, the COE Alumni Board was formed.
The purpose of this board is to:
» Promote and enhance advancement, image and the stature of
the COE and UA community.
» Act as an advisory service to the COE, UA and COE alumni.
» Provide support and resources for current students (graduate
receptions, Educator for a Day Program, philanthropic gifts, etc.).
There are many benefits to being a board member – opportunities to
reconnect with the institution and COE leadership personnel, meetings
with the dean and former faculty, and giving back time, talent and treasure
to the institution. The board also helps to educate and provide information
on the programs and scholarships available to education students.
