Technical data sheet 04/2010STARFLEX 250SECTOR 2ProductSTARFLEX 250cod. 6828 M100 – M200 – M400POLYURETHANE SINGLE PACK, MOISTURE CURING LIQUID MEMBRANEFeatures Easy to apply by roller, brush or spraying equipment. Waterproof. High elasticity Excellent adhesion Excellent physical resistances: tensile, traction and shear andchemical characteristics. Permeable to water vapor. Crack bridging capacity. Resistant to continuous water immersion. Suitable for external use and improved extra UV resistance withperformance finishing coat. Application temperature from +35°C (R.H. < 85%). Operating temperatures from -30°C to +80°C. (+200°C for shocktemperatures).Application fieldWaterproofing compound suitable to be used for the construction ofseamless membranes: without mesh reinforcement; for balconies, external foundation walls, waterproofing of PU foam insulation. wetrooms and roof paving; With mesh reinforcement; for roofs, terraces, roof tanks and interior waterproofing of water tanks, canals, bridgedecks, car-parks, roof gardens and rehab of old bituminous leakingmembranes.ApplicationThe product is ready for use after having it mixed at low rpm with amechanical mixer and well homogenized.STARFLEX 250 can be applied by brush, roller or spraying device usingpressures of 130-150 bar and a nozzle 0,031”-0,035”. According to thesystem being applied STARFLEX 250 can be diluted exclusively byDILUENTE 15 (no other) by 5% max. of. In order to reduce curing timeand lower the viscosity of the compound, ACCELERANTE 1 may beadded by 2-10 % in weight.Prior to application, substrates should be checked for being sound, clean, having no residual debris dust or loose .parts and beingcompletely uncontaminated. On humid substrates or ones subjected to back pressureDUROGLASS FU BIANCO TIX or DUROGLASS FU RAPIDO should beused.Prior to ceramic tiles and stone installation: On cementitious substrates use PRIMER 0260. Apply 2 coats of STARFLEX 250 with a consumption rate of 2,0 -2,2kg/m 2 , respecting the application interval of 12-24 hrs between the2 coats. The interposition of a tensile reinforcement mesh STARTEX NT (nonwoven fabric), placed on the fresh first coat and rolled over for aperfect laying and smoothening and over-coating with the second

Technical data sheet 04/2010STARFLEX 250SECTOR 2coat as described above. On the last coat of STARFLEX 250 sprinkle quartz 1,5-2 mm,increasing grip for the adhesive mortar PLASTOSTAR FLEXOn small surfaces the interpositioning of STARTEX NT can beavoided.Pedestrian finishing coat: Apply by roller 2 coats of STARFLEX 250 with a consumption rate of2,0-2,2 kg/m 2 , with all the options included on the precedentsystem’s description. After 24-48 hrs., apply by roller the finishingcoat STARFLEX 400 polyurethane aliphatic UV resistant finishing coatresistant to abrasion and pedestrian wear.Leaking coverings with old bituminous membranes:1) Surface preparation:Prior to application of the system preparation should be carried-out bysealing the surface: patching cracks and any leaking point with sealantSTARPLAST A/1; welding new parts of membrane to the existing one. This preparation allows to prepare the surface also by water jetting inorder to have a clean surface free from surface contamination, dustand remove bitumen oils from the surface.2) Priming:Enhance adhesion can be obtained by applying STARCEMENT 5/A (seeTechnical Data Sheet).3)Liquid membrane application: over-coat after 2-24 hrs. maximumwith STARFLEX 250 in 2 coats respecting 12 to 48 hrs. interval with aconsumption rate of 2,0-2,2 kg/m 2 . The interposition of STARTEX NTshould be done as described previously. The finishing coat of STARFLEX400 may be applied as an extra UV protection.Notes: In case of membranes having been treated with aluminumcoats, primer should be changed and DUROGLASS FF 4416 should beused (see Technical Data Sheet).Slated bituminous membranes:1) Surface preparation:Prior to application of the system preparation should be carried-out bysealing the surface: patching cracks and any leaking point with sealantSTARPLAST A/1; welding new parts of membrane to the existing one. This preparation allows to prepare the surface also by water jetting inorder to have a clean surface free from surface contamination, dustand remove bitumen oils from the surface.2)Extra sealing coat: due to the roughness of the slated surface it couldtake a first sealing coat of STARFLEX 250 as extra sealing coat in orderto smoothen the surface. This may be done again also on the weldingoverlaps of the membrane.3)No primer should be necessary.4)Liquid membrane application: over-coat after 2-24 hrs. maximumwith STARFLEX 250 in 2 coats respecting 12 to 48 hrs. interval with aconsumption rate of 2,2-2,5 kg/m 2 . The interposition of STARTEX NTshould be done as described previously. The finishing coat of STARFLEX400 may be applied as an extra UV protection.
