Home Field AdvantageIn a first, <strong>Fisher</strong> <strong>College</strong>secured an agreementfrom the City of Lynn touse City-owned facilitiesas the Falcons’ homefield and home court forthe next five years.President McGovern said, “Just like our recent purchase of 111 BeaconStreet, this agreement exemplifies <strong>Fisher</strong>’s growth and its ability toexpand for the benefit of our students.”“A home field has been an elusive goal,” said Scott Dulin, AthleticsDirector and Head Baseball Coach. Noting that travel time to andfrom practice and games for baseball and softball players wasslashed from 35 to 13 miles, Coach Dulin said, “For our studentathletes,it is a labor of love. I’m looking forward to our hangingmore championship banners over the next decade.”Courtney Gollotto ’12, who plays softball for the Falcons, said, “Myteammates, and all of our athletes, are excited to continue our successcloser to campus. We hope students, parents, and alumni will comecheer us on.”Built in 1940 by the Works Progress Administration, Fraser Field isa hidden gem with a storied baseball history. The Boston Red Sox,Detroit Tigers, and Seattle Mariners fielded minor league clubs atFraser, and baseball greats such as Roy Campanella, Ted Williams,and Johnny Pesky, along with dozens of other professional players,graced the diamond. Six state championships have been won byLynn squads over the years.A short distance away, the men’s and women’s basketball teamshave hosted teams from across New England and the Northeast.10<strong>Fisher</strong> AthleticsatIn a celebration of the first decade of <strong>Fisher</strong>Athletics, more than 150 students, staff, andalumni gathered at the Cottage Park Yacht Clubin Winthrop, Massachusetts on a cool Octoberevening. Athletes and non-athletes participated in theTriathlon – darts, bowling, and pool – while all of our boosters bid on the excitingsilent auction and raffle items. Falcons supporters raised nearly $8,000 to assist the <strong>College</strong>’s156 student-athletes with on-the-road academic tutors and scholarships.Three new members of the Hall of Fame were inducted – Luis Lara ’08, Anthony Perry ’08,and President Thomas M. McGovern — bringing the total number of inductees to 20. Eachreceived overwhelming cheers from teammates, friends, and family. Baseball standout StephenClarke ’13 was also recognized as one of only 13 national Red Cross Scholars, who, as partof the NAIA’s Champions of Character program, traveled to Washington DC and receivedmentoring and leadership training from senior Red Cross officials.www.fisher.edu/alumni 13
