52 <str<strong>on</strong>g>Ecominds</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>effects</str<strong>on</strong>g> <strong>on</strong> <strong>mental</strong> <strong>wellbeing</strong>5.4 Mental <strong>wellbeing</strong>Mental <strong>wellbeing</strong> is the main theme for the <str<strong>on</strong>g>Ecominds</str<strong>on</strong>g>evaluati<strong>on</strong>. In the In-depth study, three standardised,internati<strong>on</strong>ally recognised instruments were used inthe evaluati<strong>on</strong> to measure different elements of <strong>mental</strong><strong>wellbeing</strong>. Firstly, the Warwick Edinburgh MentalWellbeing Scale (WEMWBS) and Rosenberg SelfEsteem (RSE) scales were used to measure changes inparticipant <strong>wellbeing</strong> and self-esteem over the durati<strong>on</strong>of the <str<strong>on</strong>g>Ecominds</str<strong>on</strong>g> programme – i.e. by comparingoutcome measures at the beginning and at the end ofthe programme. Sec<strong>on</strong>dly, the Profile of Mood States(POMS) (used to measure participant mood) and theRSE were used to measure changes in mood and selfesteemover the course of a sessi<strong>on</strong> at an <str<strong>on</strong>g>Ecominds</str<strong>on</strong>g>project – i.e. by comparing outcomes before and aftera typical sessi<strong>on</strong>.
