PROSPECT ADVICE FOR GENERAL NEEDS HOUSINGIt is the aim of <strong>Contour</strong> <strong>Homes</strong> to provide each applicant withas much information needed in order to make the right choiceof scheme for themselves <strong>and</strong> their family’s needs.<strong>Contour</strong> <strong>Homes</strong>’ aim is to maintain their properties <strong>and</strong>communities to a high st<strong>and</strong>ard. We regularly carry outmaintenance <strong>and</strong> other services to all including:• 24 hour repair line for emergency repairs• Gas checks are conducted on each property on a 12monthly basis• External decoration is inspected <strong>and</strong> completed on arolling cycle• Scheme inspection twice per year• Dedicated antisocial behaviour 24 hour phone lineSome schemes also provide further services which come withan additional charge, for example, communal cleaning,window cleaning <strong>and</strong> gardening. Your local housing office canadvise you if the schemes you have chosen carry a charge forthese additional services.Below are a list of frequently asked questions <strong>and</strong> answers <strong>and</strong>a list of schemes in the local authority area you have requested,with a brief description to help you with your choices:Q: How long will I have to wait?A: Waiting times do vary from area to area, this will depend onthe dem<strong>and</strong> for the schemes you have chosen. An estimatedtime on the waiting list is provided on the stock list. <strong>Contour</strong><strong>Homes</strong> also operates a date order system within b<strong>and</strong>s whenallocating properties.Q: What types of properties are available?A: Again this will vary from scheme to scheme but <strong>Contour</strong><strong>Homes</strong> have a wide choice of 1 & 2 bedroom flats <strong>and</strong>2, 3 & 4 bedroom houses.Q: Can I keep a pet?A: Not in all properties. This would depend on whether you areallocated a home with its own entrance or not. These areextra services that <strong>Contour</strong> <strong>Homes</strong> offer such as windowcleaning, communal cleaning <strong>and</strong> gardening that may notbe offered on all schemes.Q: Are your properties Right to Buy or Right toAcquire properties?A: This would be dependant on the property, when it was built<strong>and</strong> what funding was used.Right to Buy: This is property transferred under a stocktransfer agreement with the local authority <strong>and</strong> the housingassociation. If the tenant is an existing tenant at the time of thetransfer then the tenant will have “preserved rights to buy.”Right to Acquire: This is stock that has been “acquired” or“built” after April 1st 1997.2
