PacificPreparing the premises in Australia:visit to the heart of Virbac’siconographic universe1987-2007:Virbac Australia celebrated its 20 th birthday thisyear. Currently ranked 6 th on the Australian veterinary marketwith sales of over 40 million Australian dollars, this subsidiary isalso celebrating its establishment in new premises in Milperra,south of Sydney.The space has been reorganised to encourage teamwork andto optimise communication between departments. Thepremises house a substantial expansion of the R&Dlaboratories, highlighting Virbac’s ambition for innovation evenfurther.The photos by Frédéric Decante strengthen the concept ofcustomer proximity, while reflecting the company expertise.Virbac Australia’s next goal is to be among the top 5 on thelocal veterinary market within the next 5 years.Frédéric Decante is a veterinary surgeon and a photographerwho is passionate about animal health. His photos provideevidence of day-to-day work in the trade: his enhancement ofthe beauty of the animal, his expertise and desire for detailshow a relationship with the animal that is totally shared byVirbac. His experience and his knowledge of the animal worldaccentuate the truthfulness of his gaze and the precision of hisshots to offer a touching and realistic testimony.Virbac New Zealand sets outto conquer the petfoodmarketPresent on the petfood marketin New Zealand for 4 years,Virbaconce again in 2007 participated in oneof the main events in the animal healthindustry in the country: PetExpo.Because the petfood market showssubstantial growth (+6% in 2006)and because this business accounts for 40%of the subsidiary’s sales,Virbac’s goal is oneof size: to become the number 2 in thetop-of-the-range dry food market segmentin 2008.In New Zealand, where cats outnumberdogs,Virbac is also striving to becomethe leader in the premium food segmentfor cats, with 20% of the market betweennow and 2009.It has many assets to promote theseambitious goals: an entire range of greatquality, mass distribution of products anda unique manufacturing method, allsupported by an original communicationbased on the palatability of the product,the originality of the manufacturing processand the quality of the raw materials.With 25% growth in 2007, the petfoodrange has already begun to bear the fruitsof this offensive strategy.2007 ANNUAL REPORT • 23
