From 1987 - 1999, he was a Research and Teaching Associate atMunich Technical University. In 1999, <strong>Stephan</strong> was a temporary lecturer inLandscape Planning and Management at Wye College, Kent, UK and from200-2004, he was Lecturer in Landscape Planning and Management at theUniversity of Manchester. From 2004-2009 he was appointed professor inlandscape planning at the University of Copenhagen. He is HonoraryResearch Fellow at the University of Manchester (2007-2009).<strong>Stephan</strong> Pauleit is an expert in landscape planning and urban ecology withemphasis on city regions. He developed a special interest in adaptationstrategies to climate change in the urban environment.<strong>Stephan</strong> Pauleit participated in European Union COST actions E12 "UrbanForests and Trees" and C11 "Greenstructure and Urban Planning" and hehas worked in urban planning and urban greening projects in China. Hepresently participates in the European FP6 Integrated Project ‘PLUREL’that seeks to identify strategies and develop tools for sustainable land use inperi-urban areas.1
