This heritage creates many of the specialqualities which set this place apart from other <strong>National</strong> <strong>Park</strong>s andother parts of the country, and is an important element of the appealof the <strong>National</strong> <strong>Park</strong> to visitors. Interest from tourists can also help tosustain cultures and traditions which may otherwise be lost.The vernacular buildings and the unique villages are the mostrecognisable element of the <strong>National</strong> <strong>Park</strong>’s cultural distinctivenessbut it is the less tangible elements of culture, local communities,traditions and customs, dialect and local speech, folklore, legendsand memories, that are some of the most precious yet vulnerableparts of the local culture.C4.
