4.6 STAFF PROFILESIn terms of these returns, over 60% of the staff is employed on a full time basis. However, thesefi gures include administrative <strong>and</strong> maintenance staff, <strong>and</strong> do not give an accurate refl ection ofthe number of academic staff employed on contract. Unknown elements are the categoriesof “unqualifi ed” <strong>and</strong> “other”. It may be that either or both of these categories cover professionalstaff members who have certifi cation in short courses in a specifi c fi eld, rather than diplomas ordegrees.In general, the majority of professional staff <strong>report</strong>ed on have between one <strong>and</strong> fi ve years ofteaching experience, <strong>and</strong> between one <strong>and</strong> fi ve years of industry or workplace experience.4.7 PARTNERSHIPSTwelve <strong>site</strong>s <strong>report</strong>ed on the existence of partnerships, with expertise <strong>and</strong> advice as the mostcommon type of support. There was some provision of facilities, equipment <strong>and</strong> fi nancial supportfrom partners. Seven of the partners named, presumably in the context of specifi c projects <strong>and</strong>programmes, were other <strong>providers</strong> (such as FET <strong>private</strong> <strong>providers</strong>, public FET colleges <strong>and</strong> highereducation institutions). Other partners named represent businesses such as those in the computer orhospitality industry. One provider partners with the state for its specifi c target learners.4.8 RATINGS AND COMPLIANCEThe data for ratings <strong>and</strong> compliance was gathered from the verifi cation <strong>report</strong>s against thecategories listed under 3.1. Collated scores against the thirteen categories yielded an overallcompliance score, with anything below 3 representing non-compliance <strong>and</strong> a score of 622
