down, and Lisa was a closethird, only four points behindSharon. The women ended Day Oneon a two-string Virginia Countspeed shoot called CourtroomDefense. This stage held manyperils, as two of the targetswere backed by an array of sixno-shoots. Kippi once againturned up the heat and tallied75 of 80 points in 13.08 secondsfor her second stage win. Shirleymaintained her lead byshooting 76 points in 14.3 seconds, and Lisa gained a littleground on Sharon by gettingbetter hits in a shorter time.Shirley finished this first day inthe lead at 172 points, withSharon at 161, Lisa at 159, andKippi at 157.THE SECOND DAYThe men began the secondday on the 18-round Couch Potato2, a modified version of astage shot in 1994. The shootersbegan lying on a chaiselounge with their guns andmagazines on a low table infront of them. This stage had noshooting boxes, but used a largeshooting area from which theshooters could engage targetsas they saw them. A few of theshooters who had limited magazinecapacity opted to pick up aspare magazine from the tableand place it in their mouths.Others planned their reloads sothey could shoot the left side ofthe stage and pick up a sparemagazine as they went past thetable on theway to theright side ofthe stage.Barnhartpicked up his fourth stage winhere with a time of 9.22 secondsand 86 points. While Jarrettposted a time of 9.28 seconds, his points with three D hitswere not as good. However, itwas enough for him to retain aneight point lead over Barnhartand art 18 point lead overLeatham. The next stage, a 21-roundComstock field course calledLong Island Express, offeredmore opportunities for mistakes. From the starting position, the shooter had to pulldown on a rope which liftedfour shoot targets from behinda pack of no-shoots. The shooterhad to hold the handle down toget a good view of the targets, because letting go of the ropedropped the targets so that onlya few inches showed behind theno-shoots. To finish the stage, the shooter had to move forwardthrough the "train car"U.S.P.S.A./LP.S.C. OFFICIAL TARGETSOur I.P.S.C. targets are made with a whitebackside and 1/2" border.
