Lochhead Dry AD Facility (Inputs)• The Lochhead AD facility will be first dry fermentation facility in the UK;• The facility will process combined food and green waste from 100,000 households in Fifein Scotland;• This amounts to 40,000 tonnes per annum;•The facility will be supplemented with 3,000 tonnes of source-separated commercial foodwaste;• This allows the Council to continue with co-mingled collections and thus avoid separatefood collections with a considerable saving on transport costs and carbon emissions;•The combination of the green waste with food provides for 30-40 % increase in the biogaspotential over food waste digestion alone;• The Bioferm batch dry fermentation system coupledto the Celtic in-vessel composting system is the idealsolution for bio-waste digestion.
