OBJECTIVESThe Specialist Diploma in BIM is a 5-month parttimeprogramme. As an integrated design and documentation tool usedto enhance communication and collaboration among all the projectstakeholders, BIM has already begun changing the way architects,engineers, contractors and building owners work together. Withstrategic implementation, BIM will significantly improve the design andconstruction process through more integrated project coordination. BIMhas also been identified as one of the key technologies to be adoptedunder BCA’s S$250-million Construction Productivity and CapabilityFund (CPCF) to help the local construction industry improve productivityand enhance its capability.The Specialist Diploma in Building Information Modeling (BIM) aims toimpart in-depth knowledge on BIM fundamentals and develop strategicskills for BIM project planning and implementation. It will focus onBIM applications for effective design analysis, productive designand construction coordination and holistic facility management. If not, they will need to attend a bridging course to obtainsuch software skills before they sign up for this BIM Specialist Diploma programme. Such BIMbridging courses are available from BCA Academy and the software vendors.Please submit relevant BIM skill certificates/documents together with the application. Below is alist of BIM skill certificates and/or documents acceptable:• Certificates of BIM modeling hands-on courses (min 3 days) on BIM software such as Revit,ArchiCAD, Bentley and Tekla, etc; or• Certificate of Successful Completion of BIM Modeling Certification Courses by BCA Academy(Architecture/MEP/Structure Track); or• A letter from the applicant’s company certifying that the applicant has relevant BIM projectexperience and modelling skills with at least one completed BIM project.WHO SHOULD ATTENDThis Specialist DiplomaProgramme is designed forthe upgrading of technicalpersonnel, professionals,and CAD managers/executives who are keen toenhance their skill-sets andimplementation strategiesfor employing BIM for moreeffective design analysis andproject coordination. Potentialparticipants include designers,consultants, contractors,project coordinators, projectmanagers, CAD/BIM managers,operators, draftspersons andBIM modelers.EXAMINATION &AWARD OF CERTIFICATEA participant must attain atleast 75% of physicalattendance and complete allassignments to acceptablestandards to be eligible totake the examination. Thosewho pass the examinationand complete all projects willbe awarded the SpecialistDiploma in BuildingInformation Modeling (BIM).7
