<strong>PREPARATION</strong> <strong>FOR</strong> <strong>COLONOSCOPY</strong><strong>SODIUM</strong> <strong>PHOSPHATE</strong>, GOLYTELY/COLYTE/PEGLYTE______________________________________________________________________HOSPITAL ARRIVAL TIME __________APPOINTMENT DATE _____________APPOINTMENT TIME _____________ENDOSCOPY UNIT: (LINDA OR PAT) Phone: 624-7528 - 1:00 pm to 3:30 pm.Fax: 618-3486DR. __________________________________________________________________________________________________* Duration: It takes approximately 3 hours for prep, procedure and recovery.* Because you are sedated for this examination, please have aresponsible adult available to take you home after the test is completed. You WILLNOT be permitted to drive yourself. Have your driver come with you to theENDOSCOPY UNIT, so they will know where to pick you up.* Proper preparation is extremely important for this test. An empty bowel is essentialfor the success of this examination. Your appointment will be cancelled if theseinstructions are not followed and proper bowel prep is less than adequate.<strong>PREPARATION</strong>:1. THE DAY PRIOR TO THE EXAMINATION:* Have clear fluids only.* At 2:00 pm take two Domperidone (Motilium) tablets with a glass of water.* At 4:00 pm begin drinking eight ounces of slightly chilled Golytely/Colyte/Peglyte (butnot served with ice) every ten minutes to fifteen minutes until the entire four litres isconsumed (may mix with ginger ale or juice).* Fast after midnight (nothing to eat or drink).2. THE DAY OF THE EXAMINATION:* Take your medications with a sip of water.* You may be given an enema when you arrive.3. If you are taking Aspirin, arthritis medications or iron, stop them at least ONEWEEK before your examination.* Clear fluids: Boost, Ensure, clear soup broth, Jell-O, tea or coffee, soft drinks, clearfruit juice, Powerade, Gatorade.*Please have the enclosed prescription filled at the pharmacy of your choice.> Appointment changes may occur due to unpredictable of emergency cases.> If you need to cancel your appointment, please call 24 hours prior to yourappointment date.


Diabetics please bring your insulin. Please inform the nurses if you are diabetic as itwill affect the time we perform the procedure.> Do not bring valuables, jewellery, or large sums of money.
