Furthermore, thel<strong>and</strong> degradation has already threatened <strong>and</strong> is threatening the socio-economic <strong>and</strong> culture development atregional <strong>and</strong> global scales.Fortunately, the increasing attention has been paid in combating l<strong>and</strong> degradation all over world, such asthe <strong>Soil</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>Water</strong> <strong>Conservation</strong> Engineering in the Upper <strong>and</strong> Middle Reaches <strong>of</strong> Yellow River since 1980 <strong>and</strong>“Grain for Green Project” <strong>of</strong> China, ACIAR-AusAID L<strong>and</strong>care Project in Australia, the GEF UNEP/FAO programon L<strong>and</strong> Degradation Assessment in Dryl<strong>and</strong> Areas (LADA) <strong>and</strong> EU FP6 Integrated Project on DesertificationMitigation <strong>and</strong> Remediation <strong>of</strong> L<strong>and</strong> (DESIRE).We sincerely hope that you will join us in making LANDCON1010 a success.
