ITC ACTIONS IN CAPE VERDE• Support provided for planning the energy and water sectors for thesustainable development of Cape Verde (PECAVE) (2008-2010):This Project is considered as the provision of consultancy services in planningthe water and energy sectors in Cape Verde, hence making a contribution totheir sustainable development. Based on a diagnosis of the current situation,specific measures were proposed in each of these fields, including bothtechnical proposals (emerging technologies potentially applicable in thecountry) and economic proposals (financial frameworks to guarantee therecovery of investments in new sustainable technologies). The specificobjectives of the project are to introduce renewable energies into the countryto provide the population with access to electricity and to design flagshipprojects in the water sector (desalination with renewable energies in remoteenvironments to provide de-centralized drinking water supply and treatment).
ITC ACTIONS IN CAPE VERDEPHOTOVOLTAIC PLANT RECEPTION IN CAPE VERDE (2010-2011):The Government of the Republic of Cape Verde asked the ITC for theimplementation of quality control tests and receiving the largest photovoltaic plantsin Africa, a 2.5 MWp In the island of Sal and a 5 MWp in Santiago.The ITC has long experience in the development of measurement procedures,electronic equipment and analysis software, to ensure the quality of photovoltaicplants connected to the electric grid, having measured from 2007 until today morethan 20 MW of photovoltaic plants in collaboration with other national andinternational research centers.The works focused on the study of powerlosses of the PV generator and theproduction capacity of a photovoltaicsystem. The system protection measuresand equipment quality were analyzed.
