It uses hydrogen to producepower for the electric motor in a fuel cell.The first models from a small series of theA - Class E - CELL – featuring an electric motor whichdraws its energy from two lithium - ion batteries,giving it an average range of more than 200 km –will start to roll off the production line at theend of 2010. There will also be an E - CELL PLUS,which will include a small internal combustionengine ( Range Extender ) to increase the rangeof the electric vehicle.But that is not all : under the banner “Design forEnvironment”, we also look at a vehicle’s entirelifecycle and work hard to preserve the environmentfrom the planning stage right through torecycling.
