NLAW next generation light anti-tank weaponrational in useEasy to IntegrateNLAW, a maintenance-free, disposableweapon, requires relatively little trainingand is easy to integrate into all existingoperational as well as maintenanceorganisations. The system does not requirechanges in tactics and gives combat unitsthe ability to act with a true tank killingcapability down to the individual soldierlevel in any scenario or environment.Although NLAW is an easy to use system, training will contribute to unit readiness. No live firing is required, both indoor andoutdoor trainers are available for improvingbasic skills as well as team and tacticalforce-on-force training.Low Risk InvestmentNLAW has a low LCC (Life Cycle Cost),with almost all costs going towardsprocurement, reducing hidden expensessuch as additional operation and supportcosts. Based on proven and improvedtechnologies, the system has beensubmitted to extensive testing and chosenby the FMV (Swedish Defence MaterielAdministration) and the DPA (BritishDefence Procurement Agency) as the bestsystem on the market.View from PC based in-door simulator.Combining the Best CapabilitiesNLAW combines the simplicity of lightanti-armour weapons with the advantagesof heavy, crew-operated guided missilesystems. With NLAW, an MBT can bedestroyed immediately upon targetdetection, regardless of attitude, withouthaving to mount the system, load theweapon and, in some cases, complete alock-on to launch sequence.Meaning the individual modern soldier hasa weapon to stop and destroy almost anytarget that arises in the chaos of the modernbattlefield, without assistance and usingonly one shot – making NLAW aninvaluable support to other weapons, creating the complete combat unit.Securing the FutureAfter extensive and rigid evaluation, theNLAW was selected by the British andSwedish defence authorities, as meetingthe demanding requirements for a nextgeneration light anti-tank weapon. The results of the evaluation have so farshown that NLAW is unmatchable as aone-man-portable, anti-tank system and ithas been chosen for the British and Swedisharmies as their future ultimate tank killer. The Swedish and British defenceauthorities assigned the JNS (Joint NLAWSystem) programme to Saab BoforsDynamics in mid-2002.Final assembly of the weapon is conductedby Thales Air Defence in the UK, SaabBofors Dynamics major teaming partner inthe joint NLAW system programme.Saab Bofors Dynamics and Thales AirDefence have a marketing agreementenabling any potential customer to procureNLAW missilethe system from either Saab BoforsDynamics or Thales Air Defence.
