General election8.—(1) The Governor shall, by proclamation published in the Gazette, appoint a date for theholding of a general election to the House of Assembly, and such date shall be not later than 30days after the appointed day.(2) The period for nomination of candidates for election at the general election shall be closednot later than fifteen days before the date appointed under subsection (1).Standing Orders9. The Standing Orders of the House of Assembly established by the existing Constitution in theform in which they were last in force before the appointed day shall, except as may be otherwiseprovided under section 63 of the Constitution, have effect on and after that day as if they had beenmade under that section as Standing Orders of the House of Assembly established by theConstitution, but they shall be read and construed with such modifications, adaptations,qualifications and exceptions as may be necessary to bring them into conformity with theConstitution.Director of Public Prosecutions10. Until a person is appointed to the office of Director of Public Prosecutions in accordancewith the Constitution, the Attorney General shall perform the functions of that office.Pending legal proceedings11.—(1) Any cause, matter or appeal pending before the Supreme Court or any appeal orapplication pending before the Court of Appeal immediately before the appointed day may, on orafter that day, be continued, determined or appealed against as if such cause, matter or appeal hadbeen instituted or was pending before the Supreme Court, or such appeal or application made tothe Court of Appeal, as the case may be, as those courts are respectively constituted by theConstitution.(2) Any decree or order of the Supreme Court or the Court of Appeal given or made before theappointed day, in so far as it has not been fully executed or enforced, may be executed or enforcedon or after that day as if it were a decree or order of the Supreme Court or the Court of Appeal, asthe case may be, as those courts are respectively constituted by the Constitution.Remuneration, allowances, terms and conditions of certain office-holders12.—(1) The remuneration, allowances, and terms and conditions of service payable orapplicable immediately before the appointed day to each judge of the Supreme Court, each judgeof the Court of Appeal and each magistrate shall, until it is otherwise provided under section 84 ofthe Constitution, continue to be payable or to apply to that judge or, as the case may be, thatmagistrate.(2) The remuneration and allowances payable immediately before the appointed day to anyperson holding office as, or as a member of, any of the institutions protecting good governanceshall, until it is otherwise provided under section 97 of the Constitution, continue to be payable tothat person.(3) The remuneration and allowances payable, immediately before the House of Assemblyestablished by the existing Constitution was last dissolved before the appointed day, to theSpeaker and the other members of that House of Assembly shall, until it is otherwise providedunder section 124 of the Constitution, be payable to the Speaker and the other members of theHouse of Assembly established by the Constitution.(4) The remuneration and allowances payable immediately before the appointed day to anyperson holding any office to which section 125 of the Constitution applies shall, until it isotherwise provided under that section, continue to be payable to that person.3
