Yet as the White Mountain Apachehave shown, solutions can be found that meet the needs of bothpeople and wolves.Continued public education can help prevent the deaths ofmore wolves. It can show people that wolves have an importantplace in the ecosystem. It is not too late for the story of theMexican wolf to have a happy ending.17
