However,there remain problems with assessing the accuracy of the data. Different departments at bothprovincial and district levels held different sets of figures, which were often not directly comparable.Not all investments were operational, and not all areas of land concessions were in use – nor was italways clear what the legal status of the concessions and investments were and how far differentcompanies had proceeded through the investment and land acquisition process. With these caveats inmind, brief summaries of the available primary data on land-related agricultural investments in thedistricts of Borikhan, Pakkading, Pakksan, Vangvieng and Xaithani are given in Table 2, below. 1818 No comparable statistical data was obtained for Thourakhon district during the fieldwork at all.28
