APPLICATION FORM FOR SCRUTINY OFPROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS IN CLINICALPSYCHOLOGYNon National QualificationsThe Psychological Society <strong>of</strong> Ireland has been requested by the Department <strong>of</strong>Health and Children to scrut<strong>in</strong>ise <strong>application</strong>s <strong>for</strong> statements <strong>of</strong> equivalencefrom <strong>in</strong>dividuals who tra<strong>in</strong>ed outside <strong>of</strong> Ireland. The M<strong>in</strong>ister <strong>for</strong> Health andChildren is the designated authority with the responsibility <strong>for</strong> validat<strong>in</strong>gnon-national <strong>qualifications</strong> under EU Directive 89/48. The Society, follow<strong>in</strong>g<strong>scrut<strong>in</strong>y</strong> <strong>of</strong> a non-national <strong>application</strong>, will advise the Department <strong>of</strong> Healthand Children who then make the f<strong>in</strong>al decision.Set out below are the criteria <strong>for</strong> the Advice <strong>of</strong> the Psychological Society <strong>of</strong>Ireland <strong>in</strong> relation to the Validation <strong>of</strong> Non National Qualifications <strong>for</strong> theOffice <strong>of</strong> Cl<strong>in</strong>ical Psychologist <strong>in</strong> accordance with the M<strong>in</strong>isterial Declaration <strong>of</strong>October 2002.1. 2.6 Across placements, applicant has ga<strong>in</strong>ed skills <strong>in</strong> develop<strong>in</strong>ghypotheses and <strong><strong>for</strong>m</strong>ulations about present<strong>in</strong>g problem.2.7 Across placements, applicant has been supervised <strong>in</strong> the<strong>application</strong> <strong>of</strong> at least 2 therapeutic approaches.2.8 Across placements, applicant has developed skills <strong>in</strong> writtenand oral communication.2.9 Across placements, applicant has ga<strong>in</strong>ed experience work<strong>in</strong>gwith other health service pr<strong>of</strong>essionals.2.10 Broad range <strong>of</strong> frequently occurr<strong>in</strong>g present<strong>in</strong>g problems seenby applicant across placements.2.11 For all <strong>application</strong>s, academic programme accounts <strong>for</strong> 20-30%<strong>of</strong> total course time.2.12 Academic programme covers a broad range <strong>of</strong> topics,assessment and <strong>in</strong>tervention with children and adolescents,assessment and <strong>in</strong>tervention with adults, assessment and<strong>in</strong>tervention with people with learn<strong>in</strong>g disabilities and aspecialist population.
