Hi-Visibilityst<strong>and</strong>ards<strong>Hard</strong> <strong>Yakka</strong> Hi-Visibility workwear meets or exceeds all relevant Australian <strong>and</strong> New Zeal<strong>and</strong> St<strong>and</strong>ards, includingAS/NZS 1906.4:1997 for high-visibility materials <strong>and</strong> AS/NZS 4602:1999 for high-visibility safety garments in Class D(suitable for daytime use) <strong>and</strong> Class N (suitable for night-time use).IMPORTANT: Limitations of use.Under no circumstances should Class D garments be worn for visibility purposes at night. Any markings, attachments,screen prints or other alterations, accessories or coverings not incorporated into the original product may not only voidthe garment compliance with the appropriate st<strong>and</strong>ard, they may also put the user at risk <strong>by</strong> reducing the high-visibilityperformance of the garment. The high-visibility properties offered <strong>by</strong> <strong>Hard</strong> <strong>Yakka</strong> Hi-Visibility may be lessened due tonormal wear over time or if the fabric is stretched. <strong>Hard</strong> <strong>Yakka</strong> Hi-Visibility garments using natural fibres have beentested <strong>and</strong> comply to Australian St<strong>and</strong>ards AS/NZS 4602:1999 High-Visibility Safety Garments in dry conditions. Wetconditions may alter the compliance of these fabrics to the st<strong>and</strong>ard <strong>and</strong> appropriate care should be taken.STYLE 11630STYLE 07108MINIMUM VISIBLEH TAPE CONFIGURATIONAREA OF 0.4m 2STYLE 07228HOOP TAPECONFIGURATIONAccording to the Australian St<strong>and</strong>ard, materials classifiedas high-visibility for daytime use must be manufacturedfrom a durable fabric of woven or knitted cotton orequivalent man-made fibre that contains a fluorescentpigment or other high-visibility dye, or to which afluorescent plastic coating has been applied. Thesematerials are subjected to the following tests <strong>and</strong> mustmeet or exceed specified minimum requirements for:- Daylight colour <strong>and</strong> luminance factor- Colourfastness to light- Colourfastness to washing- Colourfastness to perspiration- Colour retention testingIn some cases, for safety reasons, a garment must bemade from a natural fibre incapable of retaining afluorescent colour. In these instances, the material istested for luminance for non-fluorescent materials.Alternatively, man-made fibres are generally capable ofretaining a fluorescent colour <strong>and</strong> are therefore testedfor luminance for fluorescent materials. The fabrics usedin the manufacture of <strong>Hard</strong> <strong>Yakka</strong> Hi-Visibility Workwearare tested <strong>and</strong> must meet or exceed specified minimumrequirements for:- Chromaticity- Luminance for fluorescent materials- Luminance for non-fluorescent materials30
