ENERGYNEWSRates EditionStill thelowest billin the state22%lessthan state averageexpected in 2013*Proposed 2013 rate changesTypical 1,000-kWh residential bills expected to increase by just 8 cents daily or $2.48 per month.Bill comparison*National Average$128.11Florida Average$125.03Proposed FPL bill - 2013$97.10Our residential customers have the lowest electric bills of Florida’s 55 utilities* and leadingreliability because we have invested in cost-efficient technologies and worked hard to keepoperating costs down. We know there’s never a good time for a rate increase and are particularlymindful that the economy remains uncertain. That’s why we worked hard to minimize our requestto the Florida Public Service Commission for a 2013 base rate increase. In fact, we expect to keepresidential customer bills the lowest in the state even with the small adjustment – which is neededto pay for the higher cost of doing business and a new more efficient power plant that will savecustomers money over the long term because of improved fuel efficiencies. The base portion of a typical 1,000-kWh residential customer bill is expected to increase in 2013by just 23 cents a day or $6.97 per month, compared with today’s bill. After factoring in projectedlower fuel prices and other changes in the bill, customers would pay an estimated 8 cents moredaily or $2.48 more per month.
