Legal ImplicationsWhen a child is adopted, all relations and rights between a child and itsbiological parents are terminated, and the child is viewed legally as if itwere the natural child of the adoptive parents. Specifically, the biologicalparents no longer have any rights to contact with or information aboutthe child, although sometimes the adoptive parents will agree to maintainsome contact. Further, the child has no right to inherit from his or herbiological parents.
