UVicEmergencyAlerts –have youregistered?During a major emergency the <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong><strong>Victoria</strong> is committed to quickly relaying importantinformation to the campus community. Whenactivated, the UVic Emergency Alerts massnotification system allows the university to contactstaff, faculty and students via email, phone and, forthose who have registered, text message.Registering for Alerts texts will ensure that youreceive timely updates about UVic’s status – evenwhen you are <strong>of</strong>f campus. To receive Alerts textmessages, visit www.uvic.ca/personal-pr<strong>of</strong>ile andadd a mobile phone number to your personal pr<strong>of</strong>ile(you may need to sign in using your Netlink ID andpassword). This workshop focuses on what signs<strong>of</strong> threatening behavior to look out for and mostimportantly, what to do if faced with a threateningindividual. These workshops also enable Allison andFiona to promote security assessments <strong>of</strong> individualworkspaces. ChildFind BC provided fingerprinting and photographing service and BCHydro Powersmart participated with their kids’ games. Other participants included police andfire departments from Saanich and Oak Bay, St John Ambulance, and UVic Family Housing. Agreat time was had by all! Refreshments were provided by Ali Baba Pizza and Thrifty Foods.Halloween PartyCampus Security Services is hosting their annual Halloween party in Family Housing. Allfamilies <strong>of</strong> the <strong>University</strong> Community are welcome to come and join us on Monday, Oct 31stfrom 3pm-5pm at the UVic Family Centre.
