The filters to besupplied are designed andconstructed to meet the stringentrequirements of the aviation fuelfiltration specifications API/IP 15815th Edition and API/IP 1590 2ndEdition. The vessels will be ratedfor a maximum flow rate of 2500USGPM, the maximum that maybe qualified to the API/IPspecification.Mission statement:<strong>Velcon</strong> is committed togoing above and beyondto offer customersaround-the-clock serviceby providing support24 hrs a day,365 days a year.


<strong>Velcon</strong> <strong>Filters</strong> Qualifies to API/IP-1581, 5th Edition<strong>Velcon</strong> <strong>Filters</strong>, Inc. has tested and qualifieda comprehensive range of productsto meet the latest API/IP-1581 5thEdition Specification. The new categoriesfor the new specification are:CATEGORY CThis category replaces the previous classA, B, & C of API/IP-1581 Third Edition.<strong>Velcon</strong>’s new coalescer cartridges thatmeet Category C requirements are our I-6xxC5 Series (the xx denotes nominal cartridgelength). These new cartridges havebeen developed to provide better waterremoval performance of surfactant-ladenfuels, and improved filtration efficiencycombined with longer life. Category ‘C’cartridges can be used at any point in thefuel distribution system – from refineriesto into-plane fueling. <strong>Velcon</strong>’s Teflon ®Separator Cartridges for Category C verticalvessels are SO-6xxV5, SO-6xxPV5, andSO-6xxVA5. For horizontal vessels our previouslyqualified Teflon ® SeparatorCartridges SO-6xxV, SO-6xxC, and SO-6xxVA would be used.CATEGORY MThis is a brand new specification for militaryfuels, like JP8 (similar to Jet A but containinganti-icing and other additives).<strong>Velcon</strong>’s coalescer products for this seriesare our I-6xxMM cartridges.The separators for this category are currentlyour SO-6xxC.CATEGORY M100This specification is for military fuels likeJP8, but it also includes a surfactant additivecalled +100. The ‘+100’ allows fuels torun at higher operating temperatures andreduces maintenance for high performancemilitary jet engines. <strong>Velcon</strong>’s coalescer cartridgesfor the M100 Category are our I-6xxA4 Series. The Teflon Separators forM100 are currently our SO-6xxCM and SO-6xxGS (three-stage).New to the 5th Edition is a specificationthat allows operators to incorporate athird stage water absorbing cartridge witheach category. <strong>Velcon</strong> has currently qualifiedour CDF-2xxK Series monitor cartridgesfor Category M100.Also new is the description of filter/separatorsas “Type S” & “Type S-LD.” (S=Significant levels of water & dirt, LD forlow dirt.) All of <strong>Velcon</strong>’s qualified productsare Type S, which also qualifies them toType S-LD, as specified in API/IP 1581 5thEdition Paragraph 2.4.2.
