The reason given for removal was to aid agricultural practices on theland.(ii) DecisionFollowing a field survey and an examination of existing records, the hedge wasfound to meet the criteria for an ‘important hedgerow’ under the Regulations onhistorical grounds, due to the hedgerow being recorded on the Thornton Daleinclosure map of 1796 held at the County Records Office.In view of these findings, having taken account of the reasons put forward for thehedgerow removal and DETR guidelines a Hedgerow Retention Notice wasissued for the hedgerow.Background documents to this decision are at Annex A B and C.Date of decision: 4 January 2011Hedgerow Removal/1
