2012–13 PROFILE<strong>The</strong> <strong>Taft</strong> <strong>School</strong>THE SCHOOL: Founded in 1890, the <strong>Taft</strong> <strong>School</strong> is a co-educational boardingand day school for students in grades 9 to 12. It occupies a 224-acre campus westof the city of Waterbury, 95 miles from New York City and 125 miles from Boston.<strong>Taft</strong> is fully accredited by the New England Association of <strong>School</strong>s and Colleges.One of the strongest independent schools in New England, <strong>Taft</strong> provides an individuallychallenging experience ever mindful of its founding motto: Not to be served butto serve.
