During the dismantling of the old church, the real cornerstonewas found on HIe nor·th corner of the church , A document written inboth Cech and English by Father George Kiefner', Uwee oldnewspapers, and some old coins were also found.The three newspapers were The Courier, of June 30, 1891, thePrairie du Chien Union, of August 27, 1891 , and a Bohemian paper,Hlas, printed in St. Louis and dated August 26, 1891.Workmen took special interest in examining the coins whichincluded, besides a dime and a nickel of the period, an 1886 threecentpiece, an 1864 two-cent piece, and an 1891 penny,The document in both English and Bohemian, evidently written byGeorge Kiefner' , reads as follows: "In the Name of the Most HolyTrinity J Amen."In the year of Our Lord 1891 J the 30UI day of August, the Feastof St. Rose of Lima, Pope Leo XIII gloriously reigning over God'sChurch on earth; Ben.
