1 Rules<strong>POT</strong> <strong>LUCK</strong> <strong>Regatta</strong><strong>Sailing</strong> <strong>Instructions</strong>May 7 th and 8th, 2011Cave Run LakeFarmers Kentucky USA1.1 The regatta will be governed by the “Rules” as defined in the Racing Rules of <strong>Sailing</strong> (RSS), the prescriptions ofUS <strong>Sailing</strong>, and the Rules Governing Highlander Racing.1.2 The regatta is designated Category “A” in accordance with Appendix 1, Paragraph 20.3.2 Entries2.1 The regatta is open to any eligible boat, as defined by its National Authority. Eligible boats may be entered bycompleting registrations with the Pot Luck <strong>Regatta</strong> Staff. Skippers must be in good standing with the HighlanderAssoc.2.2 Skippers are responsible for their boats complying with the measurement rules. Boats may be subject to randominspections, including inspection for required safety equipment.3 Notice To CompetitorsNotices to competitors will be posted on the official notice board located on the wall of the Boat Gunnel Shelter ..4 Changes in <strong>Sailing</strong> <strong>Instructions</strong>Changes to the sailing instructions will be posted 0900 hours on the day it will take effect except any change to theschedule of races will be posted by 2000 hours on the day before it will take effect..5 Signals Made Ashore5.1 Signals made ashore will be displayed on the signal mast located on the sea wall.5.2 Flag AP with two sounds (one sound when lowered) means ‘The race is postponed’. The warning signal will bemade not less than 30 minutes after AP is lowered.6 Schedule of RacesRaces are scheduled as follows;Race Day and date Time of warning signalFirst race of the day Saturday, May 7th, 2011 1300As many races as possible will be run Saturday.First race of the day Sunday, October 8th, 2011 0930As many races as possible will be run Sunday. No warning signal will be sounded after 1100.7 Racing AreaLarge pool at Dam8 The Course8.1 The diagrams in Appendix A show the courses, including the order in which marks are to be passed, and theside on which each mark is to be left. The distance from the leeward mark to the windward mark will depend uponwind strength.


14.3 Protest notices will be posted within 30 minutes of the protest time limit to inform competitors where and whenthere is a hearing in which they are parties to a hearing or named as witnesses.15 Scoring15.1 The Low Point scoring system in Appendix A of the Racing Rules of <strong>Sailing</strong> will be used.15.2 When fewer than 8 races have been completed, a boats series score will be the total of her race scores.16 TrophiesTrophies will be awarded to the top 5 boats.17 Safety Regulations17.1 Each boat must be equipped with items prescribed by class rules and the Coast Guard.17.2 A boat that retires from a race shall notify the race committee as soon as possible.
