Lebanon2004.RESEARCH SUMMARY• Ongoing research projects- A study of Type 2 diabetes mellitus services, control and complicationsamong diabetic patients in the Ramallah governorate- West Bank (2011):This is the first study to investigate diabetes complications and services and it isconducted in collaboration with Umeå University in Sweden. I am the principalinvestigator in this study.- MedCHAMPS project: Mediterranean studies of cardiovascular diseases andhyperglycemia (2008-<strong>2012</strong>): This project is a multi-country project studyingcardiovascular disease and diabetes in the Mediterranean countries; I am one ofthe researchers in this project.• Recent research projects:- Lifestyle pattern of Palestinian adolescents’ project (2005-2010): This was theresearch of my <strong>PhD</strong> study and it was the first large study of anthropometric andblood measurements of Palestinian adolescents.• Previous research projects (2000-2006):- Projects part of the Choices and Challenges in Changing Childbirth network. Thisnetwork conducted research related to childbirth in Palestine, Lebanon, Syria,Egypt and Turkey and these included:- Childbirth study in Palestine: I was one of the main researchers in this study.- Amniotomy study in Makassed hospital : this was the first randomizedcontrolled trial in Palestine and I was the principal investigator.<strong>Nahed</strong> <strong>Mikki</strong>, <strong>MD</strong>, <strong>PhD</strong>. 4
