WHY A NEW ANALYSIS ISNEEDED• Acoustic model is correct only if waves impingenormally on burning surface - current model isappropriate for T-burner, L*-burner, end-burningmotors, etc.• Current models (e.g. SSPP) do not correctlypredict linear behavior of systems with parallelwave incidence (sometimes attributed to the“velocity coupling” effect)• It is not sufficient to add rotational corrections tothe basic analysis, which accounts only for theevolution of irrotational (acoustic) waves
