1.5. Work programme of <strong>Rev<strong>ie</strong>w</strong> GroupThe rev<strong>ie</strong>w group met on seven occasions over a five month period. The rev<strong>ie</strong>w group receivedpresentations from DSP officials covering the scheme background, the application process, themedical assessment process, etc. Presentations were also made by the Social <strong>Welfare</strong> AppealsOffice (SWAO), the DCA working group, the DCA Warriors and the National DisabilityAuthority (NDA). The group considered policy papers from the national Disability Authority,DCA Warriors and others.In order to inform the process the rev<strong>ie</strong>w group, through the NDA, commissioned research onsimilar schemes/payments in other countr<strong>ie</strong>s and also formed sub groups to work on specificaspects of the rev<strong>ie</strong>w including the redesign of forms.The rev<strong>ie</strong>w group liaised with the Advisory Group on Tax and Social <strong>Welfare</strong>, but as theirreport on the DCA/DA issues has not yet been published it has not been possible to includereference to their recommendations in this report.In summary, the rev<strong>ie</strong>w group has made a comprehensive study of the scheme, including thepolicy rationale and the administrative arrangements underpinning the scheme in arriving at therecommendations and conclusions contained in this report.
