JOB DESCRIPTIONPost title:ASSISTANT SITE SUPERVISORResponsible to:The <strong>Assistant</strong> <strong>Site</strong> Manager / <strong>Site</strong> Manager.The following information is furnished to assist staff joining theGreenwood Academies Trust to understand and appreciate thework content of their post and the role they play in theestablishment.Main (Core) Duties:The <strong>Assistant</strong> <strong>Site</strong> <strong>Supervisor</strong> will support the <strong>Assistant</strong> <strong>Site</strong>Manager / <strong>Site</strong> Manager in maintaining the security of thepremises and its contents (including the operation of fire andburglar alarms and keyholder responsibilities), lighting, heatingand cleaning of premises (including the maintenance andoperation of plant) and providing porterage and definedhandyperson duties and other duties arising from the use ofpremises.General handyperson duties would include routinedevelopment and maintenance, minor redecoration, repairsand other tasks which would not normally require the servicesof an outside contractor.The following job responsibilities are embraced within theoverall remit of the post. The total workload carried out by the<strong>Assistant</strong> <strong>Site</strong> <strong>Supervisor</strong> will be determined by the length ofthe working week and priorities determined at any time by the<strong>Assistant</strong> <strong>Site</strong> Manager / <strong>Site</strong> Manager, Principal or EstatesManager.The <strong>Assistant</strong> <strong>Site</strong> <strong>Supervisor</strong> will be required to assist the<strong>Assistant</strong> <strong>Site</strong> Manager / <strong>Site</strong> Manager with the complete rangeof duties below:1. <strong>Site</strong> Security, Heating and Safety1.1 To maintain security of the premises together with itscontents including those used solely for school meals,attend to the Intruder Alarms where applicable, board upand make secure the building(s) following acts ofvandalism.


1.2 To attend to the heating of the premises and maintainthe required temperatures, ensure boiler plantequipment is cleaned and maintained in accordancewith the specification and report faults.1.3 To attend to the heating of the premises at weekendsduring the approved winter period ie 1st November -30th April when necessary and as agreed. Additionalpayment will be made at the appropriate rate, forattendance outside normal working hours.1.4 To be available to attend in cases of emergency outsidethe working week, e.g. intruders, fire and flood, etc inline with the Academy policy and procedures foremergency cover. Five call-outs a year are included inthe basic salary. Call-outs over this limit will attractadditional payment at the appropriate rate.1.5 To take reasonable care for the health and safety ofhim/herself and of other persons who may be affectedby his/her activities and, where appropriate, tosafeguard the health and safety of all persons underhis/her control and guidance in accordance with theprovision of Health and Safety legislation.2. Resources2.1 To record all deliveries when security staff are not onduty and maintain the required information, replaceconsumable items and ensure that adequate suppliesare maintained to meet the needs of the establishmentand the cleaning contractors.2.2 To attend to the requirements of the hirers of thepremises for the purpose of evening and weekendlettings; to be available to attend evening lettings asagreed during the week and at other times byagreement.2.3 To give adequate supervision and directive advice toother site staff and cleaning staff in order to maintainhigh standards of cleaning, security, maintenance andjanitorial duties; to maintain the required records oftimesheets, attendance records etc.2.4 To monitor the quality of cleaning of the site and toprovide reports to the <strong>Assistant</strong> <strong>Site</strong> Manager / <strong>Site</strong>Manager where cleaning is not up to standard. To liaisewith the cleaner in charge to ensure efficient use ofcleaning staff.2.5 To assist the <strong>Assistant</strong> <strong>Site</strong> Manager / <strong>Site</strong> Manager indealing with matters concerning building maintenance,including internal decoration and basic plumbing andjoinery work.2.6 To provide a range of “handy person” duties.


3. Janitorial and Cleaning Provision3.1 To clean designated areas in the establishment andmaintain high standards in these areas; maintain floorsurfaces in accordance with the requirements of theAcademy’s cleaning/janitorial specification.3.2 To ensure that all exterior hard surfaces includingartificial/turfed areas are kept in a clean, tidy and safecondition – including the emptying of litter baskets, thecleaning of drains and gulleys as required, and duringthe winter months, the salting, de-icing of hard surfaceareas and moving of snow to ensure access to thepremises.3.3 To remove graffiti from internal and external surfacesimmediately it is noticed.3.4 To assist with the cleaning of internal glass andwindows where required.3.5 To clean, where applicable, overhead kitchen canopiesand grease traps.3.6 To set out furniture, examination desks etc, asrequested by the <strong>Assistant</strong> <strong>Site</strong> Manager, <strong>Site</strong> Manageror Principal.3.7 To carry out porterage duties as and when required bythe Academy.All adults employed by the Academy are responsible for safeguarding and promotingthe welfare of children they are responsible for or come into contact with.Whilst every endeavour has been made to outline all the duties and responsibilities ofthe post, this document does not specify every item in detail. Where broad headingshave been used, all associated duties are naturally included in the job description.
