Conflicts of Interest Policy 07/11/2011 Final v1.13 Examples of Conflicts of InterestsThis list is not exhaustive; nor could it reasonably aspire to be.Where an individual feels that this policy does not clarify whether a Conflict ofinterests exists (or is likely to arise), guidance should be sought from the relevantDomain Lead or Head of Operations, who may in turn see fit to seek the view of theDirector and / or the Chairman of the Board.1. Where an individual is involved in ISB business relating to a standard, andwhere that standard has been developed for, or by, or is sponsored by, orincludes, by name 1 , in its documentation, any one, or more, of thefollowing:the individual personally;the organisation whom the individual represents in his / her capacity asan ISB member;any other organisation in which the individual has a financial or keypersonal interest (including – as an example – the past, present and /or future employment of the individual or a close relative of theindividual).2. Where an individual is involved in ISB business relating to a standard, andwhere the evolution of that standard directly impacts upon a separatestandard which meets any of the criteria in point 1, above.1This refers to the naming of an organisation or an individual; where the individualbelongs to a broadly-defined, cross-organisational group (e.g. PerformanceManagers in the NHS) this would be unlikely to constitute a Conflict of interests.Examples that are not conflicts of interest include:Where previous experience simply confirms expertise in that field.Where representing a particular group who have a particular interest, e.g. theGeneral Dental Council.Domain lead for the standard.© Crown Copyright 2012 Page 8 of 8
