For many years he devotedhis time <strong>and</strong> attention to the improvement<strong>and</strong> cultivation <strong>of</strong> his farm, but spent hislast days in retirement from active labor inEureka, where his death occurred in 1884.His wife died in that city the same year. Tothem were born nine children; li\e fwhom are still living, namely: Jesse, whoresides near Normal. McLean county: W'illiani.who served three vears in the Civil war<strong>and</strong> is now a resident <strong>of</strong> Btoomington. McClintockpassed his boyhood <strong>and</strong> xouth. early becomingfamiliar with every department oi farmwork, <strong>and</strong> accpiiring his literary educationin the district schools <strong>of</strong> the neighlx)rh(jo(l..He now owns <strong>and</strong> t>perates the old homestead,which is a well-improved farm <strong>of</strong>sixty-five acres, besides forty more whichhe has added, on which he has erected rigood residence. He is engaged in generalfarming <strong>and</strong> stock raising, <strong>and</strong> is meetingwith well-deserved success in his labors.In 1872 in Olio township, Mr. McClintockled to the marriage altar Miss MaryBullington, a native <strong>of</strong> Indiana, <strong>and</strong> a daughter<strong>of</strong> John <strong>and</strong> Catharine (Mater) Bullingt(jn,the father a native <strong>of</strong> Kentucky, <strong>and</strong> themother <strong>of</strong> Ohio, who at an early day came toWoodford county, Ilinois, <strong>and</strong> located permenentlyin this county, about i860, wherethe father died in 1890, but the mother is stillliving at the age <strong>of</strong> eighty-four years, <strong>and</strong>fintls a i)leasant home with our subject. Hisbrother. Robert Bullington. was one <strong>of</strong> theearly pioneers <strong>of</strong> the county, <strong>and</strong> is now deceased.Mr. <strong>and</strong> Mrs. McClintock have threechildren : Jennie, Mabel <strong>and</strong> Edna. In hispolitical aftiliatit)ns Mr. McClintock is aDemocrat, <strong>and</strong> he has efficiently served as amember <strong>of</strong> the school board in his district.He takes an active interest in public affairs<strong>and</strong> gives his support to all measures whichhe believes will in any way benefit his communitv.nox. .\.H. brlt..\ki-:r.Honored .'uid res]>ected by all. there isno man in Woodford county who occupiesa more envial)le imsition than A. Formany years he was actively identified withthe Intsiness <strong>and</strong> ix)litical interests <strong>of</strong> thecount}-, but is now li\ing a retired life at hisbeautiful home in Benson.Mr. Brubaker was bom in Little Cone.stogaCreek, near Lancaster, Pennsylvania,April 1 1, 1833, <strong>and</strong> is a son <strong>of</strong> Jacob B. <strong>and</strong>.\nna ( Huber) Brubaker, who Ijelonged toan old colonial family <strong>of</strong> Swiss origin. <strong>The</strong>irdescendants are now scattered throughout\'irginia, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois,Canada <strong>and</strong> the west.Farming has alwaysbeen the principal occupation <strong>of</strong> thefamily. Longevity is numbered among itscharacteristics. Our subject's paternalgr<strong>and</strong>father was eighty-seven years <strong>of</strong> ageat the time <strong>of</strong> his death, <strong>and</strong> his father diedat our subject's home in Benson, August2. 1895, ''t the same age.<strong>The</strong> early education <strong>of</strong> A.
